National Flood Insurance Program Updated Maps
NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM UPDATED FLOOD MAPS DUE TO OUT DECEMBER, 2010
The new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM’s) issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are due to come out in December, 2010. These maps will be replacing current maps which have been in use for over 20 years. FIRM’s are used to determine if a particular parcel of land is in a special hazard flood area. There will be many new changes reflected on these revised maps and many properties will be affected.
To help you determine how your property will be affected, Manzie & Drake Land Surveying will be offering free Flood Zone Determination letters, which will also make a comparison between current and future FIRM’s. All requests must be made by e-mail (mikemanzie@gmail.com). However, if computer is not available you may call our office.
Flood Zone Determination letters are an aid for planning purposes only and can not be used in place of an actual Flood Elevation Certificate needed to purchase flood insurance.
You will need to contact your insurance agent for quote related information and ways to save on flood insurance if needed.
